WHAT TO EXPECT
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT WHEN I COME?
When you arrive you’ll notice a different church name on the building sign. Don’t drive off! We rent space in a building leased by another church.
Hopefully, you can expect to be warmly welcomed, because you are most certainly among friends. If you are offered a guest card we’d appreciate having a record of your visit, but obviously it is not required.
HOW BIG IS THE CHURCH?
There are usually about 70 people who gather on Sunday including people from all phases of life. What unites us isn’t age, gender, ethnicity, or family size but our common faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ as taught in the Scriptures.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE MORNING SERVICE?
We seek to honor and exalt the Lord in God-centered worship. Our worship is all about God. If you are looking to be entertained, you will be disappointed. During the Sunday service (~75 minutes) we sing songs full of Bible doctrine and richly filled with truth from God’s Word. We pray biblically shaped prayers, we publicly read the Scriptures, and we preach expository sermons from the Bible.
WHAT ABOUT CHILDREN?
Childcare is provided in our nursery for children ages 4 and under. Children up through grade 3 are dismissed immediately before the sermon for Grace Kids — a time of age-appropriate biblical instruction. Of course, parents decide if their child participates in the Grace Kids teaching time. We encourage parents to be models of God-centered worship for our children. All of our children’s workers have undergone background checks.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER THE MORNING SERVICE?
Immediately following our morning worship service we don’t rush off. We deliberately take time to listen to each other and know one another better. This is one way we help each other follow Jesus. You may even see some of us praying together. We’d be happy to listen and pray with you. We are delighted when our guests choose to stay and visit with us.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Clothes that won’t distract you or others from God-centered worship.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Because we seek to be a Word-centered church, all you need to bring is a Bible. Many of us use a print Bible, tablet, or smartphone. If you do not have a Bible, we would love to provide you with one.
WILL I BE PRESSURED TO GIVE ANY MONEY?
We will not ask you for money and we do not expect our guests to give. We do not charge for our times of worship. During the morning service we do provide a time when those who by God’s grace freely choose may cheerfully give.
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU USE IN WORSHIP?
We sing a mixture of the best of the doctrinally rich older hymns with many of the modern hymns, songs, and choruses being written today. A keyboard is often joined by guitar and beatbox. We believe the most important “instruments” for our gatherings are the voices of the church family united in songs of praise to God.
DO YOU HAVE SMALL GROUPS?
City Groups are a crucial element of being connected into this local church family. This is how we live out the gospel, connect with others, and live life together on God’s mission. We help each other follow Jesus by growing spiritually through rhythms of faith and repentance while encouraging one another to do God’s mission work in the world. City Groups is where our connection with other Christians finds strength. According to Ephesians 4 we mature as a church family through life giving, closely connected, joint-like relationships between Christians. Your relationships will deepen and you will help others grow in love for Jesus as you gather weekly.
