Psalms 19:9–11 ESV, “the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.”
In this week’s “fighter verse” we learn some more features of God’s Word. We are also told how desirable are the Scriptures. Do we desire God’s Word more than wealth? Do we consider God’s Word more delightful than our favorite sweet? Why is it that we are so often casual in our relationship with God through his Word? How can we pray for ourselves and one another? What do we know about God that completes our deficiency?
Tonight we will pray together. We will seek God to provide what we lack. We will confess our sins and praise God for the full forgiveness found from him through Jesus. We will ask God to grant us the fruit of his Spirit for our joy and the glory of his name.
On Sunday we will recover a hymn we know but have not sung often. The song is entitled “Immanuel” and in it Stuart Townend traces the life of Jesus from the manger to his now exalted position with the Father. Begin listening to and re-learning this wonderful song about Immanuel, “God with us” so you are prepared to worship together with the church on Sunday.
If you can gather with us, please come! If you are not able to gather, please spend some time tonight reading the Scriptures and praying for your Christian brothers and sisters at GBC and around the world.
