In this week’s “fighter verse” we are told how God provides peace to the one who trusts in him. Some questions we will consider tonight are: What does it look like to have your mind “stayed” on God? What is the relationship between trust and prayer? We will seek to better understand this text so that we can grow in our praying. Our time together tonight will help you meditate on and pray through this text for yourself and each other this week.
Isaiah 26:3–4 ESV, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.”
The Word Works:
We will continue to let God’s Word work its way through us as we recover the text from Sunday morning: 1 Peter 4:17-19. How does this text provide comfort and encouragement to Peter’s readers as they faced the hardship of Christian suffering? How might other kinds of suffering factor into our understanding of God’s judgment talked about in this text? For what can we praise, adore, or ask God about?
If you can gather with us, please come! If you are not able to gather, please spend some time tonight reading the Scriptures and praying for your Christian brothers and sisters at GBC and around the world.
